Terms of use
The terms for using Phone Tag
What Phone Tag does
Phone Tag helps two people who both use it find a moment when they're both free to talk, and tells them who should call. The call itself is made by your phone or calling app, not by Phone Tag. Phone Tag is free.
Phone Tag is not for emergencies. It can't guarantee that anyone sees a request or is free when you need them. In an emergency, call 000.
Who can use it
- You must be 16 or older.
- You need a mobile number that is yours to use, and you can have one account per number. For now, accounts are open to Australian mobile numbers only.
Your account
- Anyone who can receive texts on your number can sign in to your account, so keep your phone and number secure, and tell us if you think someone else has got in.
- If you change your number, move your account to the new one in the app. Mobile numbers get passed on: if an account goes unused for 60 days and its number is later verified again, we treat the number as belonging to someone new, and the old account is deleted.
- You can delete your account at any time, in the app or as described in our privacy policy.
Using it fairly
Phone Tag works because people trust that a request is welcome. You agree not to:
- harass, threaten or pressure anyone, or keep sending requests to someone who doesn't want them;
- send invitations to people you don't know, or in bulk: each invitation should be a personal message to someone you'd genuinely like to talk to;
- pretend to be someone else, or use a number that isn't yours;
- use Phone Tag to send spam or advertising;
- try to find out who has an account by checking numbers you don't have a reason to call, or collect information about other users;
- interfere with Phone Tag, get around its limits or security, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows.
If someone is bothering you, block them in the app. They'll only ever see "Not right now".
What you write
Your name and the notes you add to requests are yours. You're responsible for them, and they must not break the law or these terms. You let us store them and show them to the people you send them to, only so that Phone Tag can work.
Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It's part of these terms.
Changes to Phone Tag, and to these terms
Phone Tag is new, and we'll keep improving it. We may change, add or remove features, or stop offering Phone Tag, and we'll give you reasonable notice in the app of anything that matters. If we change these terms, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. If you keep using Phone Tag after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
Suspending or closing accounts
We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or Phone Tag at risk. Where it's safe and lawful to, we'll tell you why.
Your rights under Australian law, and our responsibility
Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including its consumer guarantees, or any other law that can't be excluded.
Apart from those rights, Phone Tag is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, that every notification will arrive, or that it will always find a time. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for missed calls or missed opportunities, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Where our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee can be limited, it's limited to supplying the service again.
General
- The laws of Victoria, Australia, apply to these terms, and its courts can hear disputes about them.
- If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- Phone Tag, its name and its logo belong to us.
- Apple and Google aren't parties to these terms and aren't responsible for Phone Tag or its support.
